The Portals developed from Lights On Tampa 2009, and are a key cultural component for the Tampa Riverwalk. Portals are pedestrian friendly, digital screens that will be placed at fixed locations along the Riverwalk. These Portals will function as a linear gallery of images and be integrated with short educational messages about the Environment, Well-Being, and Humanities with all content for the being pushed through the lens of art.
Lights On Tampa '09 artist Carlton Ward, Jr.'s photographic installation was featured on the portal prototype, installed at the Tampa Convention Center.
Design development is underway for the permanent on-site Portals.
